Xiaolan is a registered psychotherapist in the Province of Ontario (CRPO). She is an active professional member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA); and a professional affiliate member of Ontario Psychological Association (OPA).

Xiaolan’s clinical approach integrated with cognitive behaviour therapy and solution-focused brief therapy, which she was trained from certification programs at UofT. Xiaolan also graduated from the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program from the Women’s College Hospital. Xiaolan has 13 years of practical experience in helping clients learn psychological knowledge, practical skills, and tools to address their concerns and improve their quality of life.

Most recently, Xiaolan enhanced her professional training and is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Clinical Specialist by Evergreen. Xiaolan also is a Certified Safe and Sound Protocol Provider.

She has passion in supporting young clients and their families on their journey of neurodivergent. Xiaolan provides OAP-funded mental health services to special needs children, youth, and their parents and caregivers. Xiaolan has extended experience in parent-coaching, and she combines her professional knowledge as well as her personal experience.

Based on the needs of the children and their parents, currently, Xiaolan developed and provided the following counselling and treatment, including individual, family, and social groups. Her sessions integrate engaging games and activities. She can provide sessions that aim to:

– Enhance social skills and communication in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese
– Help children to express their feelings, identify their strengths, and build confidence
– Support children and adolescents with social anxiety, compulsive behaviours, anxiety, and depression

Xiaolan’s approach is to developing the capacities of children on the autism spectrum or with other mental health needs. Xiaolan works with young clients and they parents to envision a more satisfying and hopeful future, recognize her young clients’ strengths and resources and use them to generate their realistic solutions as much as possible.
