Kelly Tam worked as a Play Therapist in a private clinic and two special need schools in Hong Kong (all students have mild grade IQ and some of them with other mental health issues (eg. ADHA, ASD, anxiety disorder, developmental delay). She provided play therapy treatment to children who experiences emotional, behavioural and developmental issues, also parenting coaching sessions for the parents.

Kelly Tam is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also registered with Association for Play Therapy US as a Registered Play Therapist™. She has a Bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and also a Master of Social Science in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong. She also obtained a Diploma in Play Therapy.

As a Play Therapist, Kelly is specialized in and passionate about working with children and adolescents. She is proficient in providing play therapy to children who are experiencing childhood anxiety, ASD, ADHD, depression, low self-esteem, learning disabilities, traumatic life events, issues with family transitions, adjustment to school, and peer relationships. Kelly believes through Play Therapy, children would develop positive and healthy self-concept and self-respect, understand and express their feelings appropriately, make decisions independently, responsible to their own choices, as well as enhance their social skills, problem solving skills and coping skills.

Beside working with children, Kelly is also dedicated to working with parents. Through parenting consultation, parenting coaching sessions and workshops, Kelly helps parents to understand their children and also their own emotional needs, as well as develop positive parenting techniques.

Kelly utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy / Person-Centered Therapy to help her clients reach their full potential by facilitating them to explore and understand their own abilities, beliefs, values and personality. Her focus is to empower her clients with the capacity for meaningful change and self-growth by providing a warm acceptance and non-judgemental therapeutic environment.
